Technology Transfer

CCITT leverages many resources at Northwestern to achieve success in technology transfer. CCITT enhances the opportunities for technology transfer in several ways:

  • Creating a steering committee comprised of interested stakeholders who inform and guide the investigators toward successful implementation;
  • Acting as a business liaison to the public and private transportation community;
  • Serving as a clearinghouse for high priority needs established by various transportation industry associations and local, state, or federal agencies;
  • Providing implementation or commercialization strategy guidance to principal investigators.
CCITT's technology transfer goal is to create additional opportunities for Northwestern research breakthroughs to make a direct impact on the surface transportation system. Broadly speaking CCITT seeks to increase the realization of Northwestern innovations in the public and private sector. The Center promotes and tracks several mechanisms of technology transfer including publications and presentations, technology licensing, industrial collaborations or adoption of know-how, and unique business start-up situations.
